EXPLORATIONS

ALL THINGS CURIOUS AND UNUSUAL

Carob sawdust 2.jpg
“I use a lot of wood from trees here in Los Angeles. There is nothing that makes me as happy as finding some new chunks of carob, camphor, ficus, magnolia, or tipuana tipu. There are so many varieties of trees growing here from all over the world…getting my first glimpse at the look of the wood inside is always a big high for me.”

The experience of assembling the different kinds of wood…

and the different shapes, textures, patterns and all the intuitive artistic moves I make in all of that are also extremely satisfying to me. There is even a quality of celebration in it.  A quality of joy maybe.  It is the combination of all these elements that are in play in the art I make that give it a rich meaning and that satisfies the artistic need and passion that lives in me.
